Abstract:Quality circles and suggestion schemes for individual workers and employees are tested instruments of a company's innovation management. In Japan the quality circle movement is widely spread. It is regarded as a means of improving the participation of those who are directly concerned of changes. The level of frustrations can be reduced. By using a case study within a Swiss company the author shows how both instruments can be integrated in an efficient way. We learn about concrete problems and their successful solution. The traditional concept of suggestion schemes and the new approach of quality circles can efficiently coexist.
