| Abstract: | The UK market for car and van rental by private individuals is examined. The market was worth GBP 510 million in 1990 , an increase of 2 percent over 1989. In real terms this is equivalent to a decline of 7 percent. Car rentals performed better than vans with a 4 percent gain in revenues. Private rentals held up better than business related rentals. The airport market is dominated by major operators. The industry underwent considerable rationalization in 1990. Further falls in real market value are likely in 1991 with growth expected to start again in 1992. |
