Abstract:There are still plenty of blacklegs in the bond buyers' strike, but issuers are having to pay huge bribes to keep them interested. Even sovereigns are finding the cost unacceptable. The author looks at the alternative routes chosen by Spain and Pakistan. Life is getting tough for bond issuers. Buyers are dictating terms and there is a danger of some borrowers being crowded out of the markets. Spain's Ferrer has opted for syndycated loans.
