| Abstract: | Communication networks can generally be divided into local area networks /LAN/ and wide area networks /WAN/. The need to provide connection between them to enable access from diverse secondary groups is emphasized. The supply of telecommunication networks in the UK is heavily associated with British Telecom and increasingly so with Mercury. Many of the UK's larger companies operate their own network. The current applications of information technology for networking, and their applicability to the market research industry are examined. |
