| Abstract: | A carefully thought and planned restructuring can have positive effects on morale and productivity. The concept of restructuring is defined. Some reasons for restructuring are mentioned: corporate renewal, severe economic downturn, stockholder pressure, technological obsolescence. The most important rules for a successful restructuring are reviewed: the program should have a strategic direction; continual face-to-face internal communication is crucial; those who are leaving must be treated fairly etc. Manufacturing trends in electronics and other industries affecting corporations' activities are considered. |
