Abstract:Today's economy is truly global due to the open markets boom and supply chains crossing countries and continents. In a company, Knoco, knowledge management (KM) is seen as having three components: 1. A focus on critical knowledge areas and development of topic-specific clusters rather than just "high-tech" ones, 2. A government-facilitated, regional approach to deliberate, strategic and facilitated networking, 3. Government providing a definition of what effective KM means and supporting education for companies on "learning how to learn" and they don't just mean closer links to universities. There is information on "Share of national income from knowledge-based industries 2002" by selected countries (by OECD).
