| Abstract: | Western Europe's unification efforts have transformed the are into an essential market for many international companies. At the same time, the breakup of the former Soviet Union has opened the door to many Eastern European economies previously off limits to Western investors. Companies that have invested in Eastern Europe have had to grapple with ahost of unique challenges. Yet, some have achieved notable success. In this interview director of corporate development at International Paper, discusses the planning that preceded the transaction and suggests that companies should consider the investment opportunities that are now available in Eastern Europe thanks to privatization. |
