Abstract:In 1992-1999 there was a major change in the Russian economic system. Up till 1998 Russia was the classical land of the Soviet economic systems. In 1989-1991 that system decayed and in 1992-1999 vigorous efforts were made to introduce a civilised market economy. These efforts were backed by the G7 and its agencies and by the international business community. However, these efforts were a failure, and Russia ended up with a mutant economic system. Eight aspects of this mutant system were of particular importance.
