Abstract:From 1990 onwards Poland's economy has been affected by the marketization process consisting of the liberalization of prices, wages and foreign trade; the privatization of many state assets; forming independent central banks, commercial banking systems, and stock exchanges, and the restructuring of the taxation and legal systems. Although, the most backed up view is that this should be beneficial to most Poles over time, the first phase of transition didn't bring only good news to Polish women. This article examines the Polish women's experiences between years 1990 and 2003 and explores two positive ways that they have benefited during transition.
