Abstract:Poland in many respects is one of the most promising of the East European markets for Western investors. After an overall analysis of the Polish economy, demography data are presented and discussed. Employment patterns treated include data on economically active population by sector 1980/1988. Incomes and expenditures are analyzed through an overview of wages and earnings showing data on the change in real and nominal per capita incomes, savings and consumer credit and consumer spendings by object. Consumer lifestyles are discussed covering work patters and the use of leisure time. Media, advertising and distribution are discussed. Finally, data on housing and households are given.
