| Abstract: | The Paris Club has cancelled half of Poland's 33 billion dollar official debt. It was a premium for the shock therapy which was painful but it managed a good start. Shortages have disappeared , privatization have started and there is a hope that Poland will be a successful market economy. Nevertheless, the write-off raises the question of whether other model debtors (e.g. Hungary) will get the same deal. |
