| Abstract: | The roots of Macao's economic recession are governmental factors, single-product economy, high dependence upon outside world, shortage of resources and decreased complement with neighboring regions. The measures for future economic development are as follows:Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao are expected to cooperate cordially, to realize industrial regeneration, to prevent vicious competition in tourism and basic facilities and to utilize its own advantages for carrying out offshore intermediate trade, etc. Current goals of economic transformation are: to reach rational proportion of secondary and tertiary industry; to make balanced development inside industry; to shift from being labor-intensive to being capital and technology intensive. Tourism, estate industry, financial industry and export processing are expected for long-term development. |
