| Abstract: | Macao's real modern economic development begins in 1980s. After 1980s, processing manufacture, baking and financing and construction industry spring up rapidly. Now together with tourism, they have become the four principal industries in Macao. From 1993, the economic growth speed slowed and in 1996, for the first time, it appears negative increase (-0.5%). In future, economic development direction and key point of Macao is tertiary industry. On the basis of the original four principle industries, Macao should join the economic circle by mainland and Hong Kong as soon as possible and establish itself as the largest and perfect lottery industry center, leisure center, holiday center, international conference center and offshore financial center in Asia. |
