Abstract:Kahneman and Tversky's prospect theory states, among others, that losses have more significance than gains. In spite of the research until now, key questions remain. Among others: "How fundamental is the losses-looming-larger effect? (hereafter as: l-l-l-eff.)" ... "And how does the actual experience of predominant losses or gains affect the l-l-l-eff.?" This paper presents two experiments employing non-raditional methods, with participants experiencing slot machine spins in which symbols were paired with gain, loss, and neutral outcomes. After experiencing these pairings, participants took Implicit Association Tests (IATs). The experiments' results are reported in more detail.
