Abstract: | A comparison of the Follow Me method in emergency evacuation, in which a leader takes one evacuee to an exit, and the Follow Directions method, where a leader indicates the direction with voice and gestures. Two experiments and methods: subjects, design, location, procedure and results. The leader-to-evacuee ratio and two and four leader conditions. A demonstration of how emergent small groups can contribute to effective collective or crowd behaviour control. Four Tables and four Figures illustrate the study. |
