Abstract:An examination of eyewitness accounts and attempts to recall information, using 90 undergraduates viewing a videotape of a burglar breaking into a home and shooting 3 innocent victims, containing 47 violent or nonviolent details. 4 successive recall trials, and instructions to use context or emotion as retrieval clues. Method, subjects, overview, eyewitness tape and scoring procedure, recall instructions, procedure, manipulation checks, hypermnesia for details, effects of guessing and good versus bad witnesses. Three Tables illustrate the study.
