Abstract:A series of tax incentives combined with structural and statutory changes in the capital markets is set to liberalise Turkey's economy and open the way for a surge of foreign investment. Venture funds backed by Arab, American and European money are already scouting out opportunities. They are finding that foreign equity is being eagerly sought by large, mostly private Turkish firms that prefer to yield up some independence rather than pay the local banks' very high interest rate. Multinationals have also started to find Turkey a more friendly environment for joint ventures.
