Abstract:This study examines whether tourism companies in a developing country, Turkey, differ based on their financial and non-financial performance. Findings indicate that there is a difference in both financial and non-financial performance based on the strategic orientations used in tourism companies. In developing countries, tourism businesses may be indifferent when choosing between strategies based on their internal characteristics because they lead to similar financial outcomes. Specific factors and developments in the macro environment and company-specific factors seem to influence tourism companies' strategic orientation as well as their performance.
