Abstract: | After a good year in 1990, the Gulf crisis upset the delicate balance of the Turkish economy. The losses have been severe on several fronts (lost projects in Iraq, Kurdish refugees, etc.). For the banks the key issue is the handling of the budget deficit and inflation. A major tax reform could help the country, but it would not be a vote winner. |
