Abstract:The environment for the formation of the EC '92 economic integration has been significantly affected by the democratization of Eastern Europe. The impact of European integration on these newly emerging democracies will affect government-imposed entry barriers and natural entry barriers. The determinants of national advantage assess these changes. Even though EC government barriers towards Eastern Europe are likely to decrease, natural barriers are likely to sharply increase. In order to preserve a stable environment, the EC must undertake major steps to encourage the private sector to alter the determinants of national advantage of the Eastern European nations, through funding, trading, investments, and technology sharing.
