| Abstract: | The collapse of socialism in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union had a strong impact on the Third World too. Not only military backing of Third World countries by the Soviet Union has been abandoned but a total reorientation of their economic strategies is experienced. They do no more pursue state socialism but are market oriented , seek free trade agreements with North-America, attract West-European, Japanese and US capital. |
