Abstract:The non-game CD-ROM market was worth £65 mn in 1997 with 2,290,220 titles sold, which represented an 81% increase in market volume and 59% increase in value on 1996. There is much potential in the market, however, much of the success was due to a minority of successful titles: very few titles make any money. Market value will rise till until 2001, aided by improving distribution and more focused and attractively priced products although the leisure market will remain dwarfed by the games market.
