Abstract:This study concentrates on micro- and marco-level factors affecting bribery payouts by companies. Based on a data set including data from 55 countries, logit regression models were created. There are found several both micro- and macro-level variables affecting the bribery using. Because of a number of macro variables seem to affect the incidence of bribery, the study draws policy implications for governments. In addition, collective actions of the business community might reduce the power of public officials and thus prevent bribery payouts and corruption.
