Abstract:This paper investigates the consequences of a switch to a more funded pension scheme for economic growth (hereafter as: gr.) in an economy consisting of a capital-intensive commodity sector (here as: sct.) with endogenous gr. and a labour-intensive services sct. The increased savings cause long-run gr. to be higher in a closed economy, provided labour and capital are not strong substitutes. The reverse holds for a small open economy etc.
