| Abstract: | The closure of Renault's Belgian plant at Vilvoorde, announced on 27.02.97 sparked a furore which quickly developed into a social conflict of European dimensions. At the heart of the controversy was the alleged breach of workers' information and consultation rights, resulting in court cases against Renault in Belgium and France. In this feature one reviews the reprecussions of the court rulings and the impact of Renault's announcement on European social affairs over the past year. |
