Abstract:A market survey of the UK for baby foods is presented. Included are infant junior milk formulas, baby meal preparations, infant drinks and rusks. Sales were up by 15 percent in 1991 to GBP 253 million. The UK child population continues to increase. Milk is the largest sector ahead of meals, with a 20 percent gain in 1991. Meals sales were up 13 percent, wet meals are the largest sector with a 57 percent value share in 1991. Value growth in the drinks sector slowed in 1991, ready-to-drink products are the largest sector, but granulated products have been the main gr owth area. Further real growth is forecast in the market up to 1996, but slowing as the birth rate falls.
