Abstract:Liberalizing economies want advice on the divestiture of state assets, and help with financing such privatization programmes. They want stock exchanges and liquid domestic bond markets. And they offer opportunities for advice on and financing of the upgrading of obsolete infrastructure. Some recognize the benefits of inward investment from the world's multinationals, and may want help in finding strategic partners in industry and commerce. A helping hand from a friendly bank is allways appreciated. There might even be some money to be made.
