Abstract:The article deals with some aspects of relation of Slovenian public towards actual problems of road safety. The results of inquiry performed in the middle of February 1995 indicated that Slovenian population is quite aware of negative aspects of traffic happening on Slovenian roads. The awareness of threat of numerous traffic accidents is especially emphasized.Further, the analysis also indicated that socio-stratificational characteristics have an important impact considering problems of road safety.Almost all of interviewees (95,1%) confirmed they were informed with preparing of the new road safety legislation and more than four fifths (82,2%) fundamentally agreed that sever sanctions are needed for road offenders.Among different measures for improvement of road safety interviewees exposed those related to objective factors of road safety - traffic infrastructure (especially construction of better roads) but also those concerned control, repressive and educational functions of competent state institutions.
