| Abstract: | If competitive strength is to be improved with the aid of electronic data processing, the management must be fully familiar with this important resource. An empirical report is presented showing why the executive management of a brickworks in Zurich had been involved personally in the data modelling and the results that were subsequently obtained. Communication as a central part in any information system is characterized. The role of data modelling is highlighted. The data-oriented and the process-oriented approaches to information systems design are compared with one another. |
