| Abstract: | The article focuses on the role of data bases in EDP (electronic data processing) in business enterprises today, with the data base seen as a mediator between data and computer assisted information systems. Data are considered as an independent component in EDP applications, and as an organizational element besides software and hardware. The data-base oriented integration of functions and activities within an enterprise calls for new forms of EDP organization. The author considers the impact of some such concepts on the management and organization of enterprises. |
