| Abstract: | Although many authors have considered the human resources as a value creating and profit showing asset for a company, has the SHRM field paid almost no attention to the reality that assets always have associated threats and uncertainties. The authors here have used the real options view as a framework for evaluating the risks that are linked to firms investments in real assets. Uncertainties attached to human resources are analyzed with the help of the real options framework. The authors conclude that it is possible to manage risks associated to HR with HR options, which are competencies created by bots single HR practices and bundles of these practices. An options model for managing different kinds of risks regarding HR is developed in the article. |
