| Abstract: | The Social Change and Economic Life Initiative was one of the most ambitious projects in British social science. It was a major interdisciplinary programme, designed to study the processes of economic and social change in modern Britain. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, it involved thirty-five researchers from fourteen different institutions. These six books are a product of that collective endeavour. In this article, the author first gives a brief description of the aims and methods of the project, and then moves onto a discussion of each volume, with an emphasis on those topics of interest to economists. |
