| Abstract: | The solution of many problems such as economic development, international contribution, security of food, energy development, maintenance of health, and conservation of the global environment are supported by science and technology, which in turn are supported by research. Research can be divided into two categories, applied or developmental research that directly leads to the solution of various problems, and basic and academic research. Because Japan is a small country and extremely deficient in natural resources, the development of the nation depends on science and technology. |
