Abstract:There is an evaluation of contemporary economic situation of Czechoslovakia. In comparison with other Eastern European nations, aggressively moving toward market-driven economies, there are various advantages as well as disadvantages concerning Czechoslovakia's recent situation. Czechoslovakia is behind Hungary and Poland in the development of markets, yet this condition affords them the opportunity to learn from their neighbours' mistakes. A liberal concept of transition towards a market economy is drawn which consists of privatization, foreign trade liberalization, price liberalization, and, finally, restrictive monetary and budgetary policies.
