Abstract:A linked employer-employee dataset is used here to analyse the relationship between company profitability and wages. The question of whether the sensitivity of wages to company-specific rents varies with collective bargaining coverage is emphasized here. The issue is addressed by distinguishing sector- and company-specific wage agreement and wage determination without any bargaining coverage. The findings indicate that individual wage are positively related to company-specific quasi-rents in the non-union sector and under company-specific contracts.
