Abstract:Travel agencies (hereafter as: tr-ags.) have increasingly utilized agency (here as: tr-ag.) Websites (here as: W./W-s.) on the Internet to enhance their marketing efforts. This exploratory study aims to provide an analysis of the Internet use by tr-ags. in the United States U.S). A survey conducted with 102 tr-ag. professionals collected primary data to examine the perceived value and contribution of a W. to the tr-ag. business, purposes for developing and operating a W., and benefits and challenges faced in operating a tr-ag. W. The results of this study not only identified various issues in developing, operating, and maintaining a tr-ag. W. but also made various suggestions to address those issues.
