Abstract:The invention of spinning machines, the development of the factory system, and the social consequences of the transformed cotton industry marked the beginning of a new age. Cotton textile technology defined the British industrial revolution. this study brings together evidence to document the course of prices and costs in many of the industry's products. The new technology had considerably different impacts on different types of yarn, reducing the cost of fine yarns and warps much more than it reduced the costs of wefts.
