Abstract:Nokia CEO Jorma Ollila has USD 9 billion to shop for acquisitions to help develop the mobile Internet. While a powerhouse in handsets, Nokia risks becoming an also-ran in the telecom systems business which represents a third of Nokia's sales. The trouble is that Nokia, like many of its competitors in Europe, is a featherweight in Internet technology. This is a fast growing field dominated by North American titans like Cisco Systems, Nortel, and Lucent Technologies.
