Abstract:In policy making cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is often used for determining the economic value of different choices. This article argues that the use of CBA for welfare economics applications is likely to favor one set of values over another sets therefore producing bias to the results. The results show a negative correlation btw. the importance a person places on income and the willingness to reduce consumption in favor of environment.
