Abstract: | It was examined how personnel managers and line managers make disciplinary decisions. Specifically, the study examines the degree to which managerial decisions about employee discipline are affected by factors relating to the broader economic, institutional/legal, and hierarchical contexts. The institutional/legal context had the largest impact on decisions made by personnel management, while line managers' decision was mainly influenced by hierarchical factors. |
