Abstract:The era of promoting energy conservation solely as a means of saving money is over. Appropriate education must be made available if the necessary energy policy options, technologies and energy-use practices are to be devised and implemented. In light of this, the UK energy education is reviewed in the context of creating a more energy-effective European Community. In particular, the UK's provision of tertiary energy education is discussed. An analysis is presented of the case for coordinating education within each built-environment discipline around the topic of energy efficiency.
