| Abstract: | On October 4, 1991, the Swiss Federal Parliament approved a new law regarding joint stock companies which came into force on July 1, 1992. The revision of the old law has generally been welcomed but, criticism has arisen stating that it is not far-reaching enough and does not conform sufficiently to European Community legislation. The revised law has substantially changed the old legislation and most of today's existing 160,000 companies will have to adapt their statuses and rules to a greater or lesser extent. |
