| Abstract: | Travel and tourism is the world's largest industry and the same is true for the EC. The EC is responsible for about 60 per cent of OECD tourist receipts and about half of EC travel occurs within the community. The single market policy is likely to consolidate the EC's dominant market position and this article examines the case for a stronger Community tourism policy. The focus here is mainly on international tourism because of its balance of payments effects. |
