Abstract:Assembly products are at the forefront of the trend towards globalized sourcing and production. They have traditionally been manufactured by industries in developed or newly developed countries such as the United States, Japan, EC Member States, Korea and Taiwan. Faced with increased labour costs in their home market or trade barriers abroad, such industries often decide to switch production sites either to newly developing or developed countries with a reliable and low-priced labour force or to the importing countries erecting the commercial defence measures.
