| Abstract: | In December 1991, virtually simultaneous meetings took place of the heads of state of the European Community in Maastricht and of Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian leaders in Belovezhskaia Forest. At the former of these meetings, the birth of the European monetary-economic union was very solemnly formalized. In Belovezhskaia Forest such a question was not even raised. |
