Abstract:This study is interested in exploring opportunities and challenges of the EU-Turkey partnership from both parties' point of view. The ultimate aim is to analyze the opportunities and challenges faced by the Turkish industry as it enters into the EU by the year 2015. The paper focuses on import-export relationships between the EU and Turkey; the import-export data has been analyzed by using trend and regression models. The main idea is to observe Turkish trade performance between pre and post Customs Union (hereafter as: CU) with the EU. The results show that CU has positively affected the Turkey's trade with the EU in general. It has also helped to increase the speed of the integration of Turkish foreign trade with rest of the world. To conclude, Turkey is likely to be a more important trade partner for the EU in the long term.
