Abstract:Spurred by controls on federal planning for social programs, and intense interest in private sector initiatives, attempts to solve social problems by tapping into the resources of the private sector have become widespread. The key to making partnerships work is understanding the relationship between the partnership planned, the nature of the locality, and characteristics of individuals who might become involved. Some critical facts about social partnerships can be observed. Selecting appropriate representatives to social partnerships requires understanding what the intended scope or purpose of the partnership is to be and choosing those individuals who can make relevant decision.
