Abstract:Strategic planning is a tough subject. Almost everyone in business talks about it and you could fill every room in Buckingham Palace with literature on the subject from consultants and academics. Some of it is exceptionally valuable to those of us who are practitioners; a great majority of it is not very helpful; and some portion of it is completely rubbish. As head of strategy and planning for a $3 billion consumer packaged goods company in the United States the author is both a practitioner and a student of strategy.
