| Abstract: | Unions and employers have successfully negotiated a new national collective agreement setting out pay increases and other employment-related conditions for 1998 and 1999. The deal provides for moderate increases and in return the government has pledged a number of reductions in tax and social security contributions. The deal will now serve as a floor for negotiations at a lower level. The main provisions of the accord are reviewed. |
