Abstract:Trusting without complete and enforceable contracts need not be irrational. People are able to distinguish between situations where they can trust and others where they should not. Though they wish others to be more thankful tells that they do a good job when guessing real thankfulness. "Rational" theory of trust can be developed. Anonymity is rare within real interactions.
